TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad Review
We will make a review of the latest product of the TACKLIFE brand, which produces good products for electronic locks. TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad is our second review from this company. We have already made a review for other electronic lock model of this brand named Tacklife Keypad Electronic Deadbolt in the past so we wonder if this one will also satisfy us with its features.
TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad is not only controlled with the keypad, it also has a fingerprint reader hidden inside the cover. Thanks to this review, you will find answers to all the questions that arise in your mind.
Keypad of TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad
Design
TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad, which has a stylish design, has a small amount of keys located on the keypad, which is generally found in Kwikset models. Instead of using a key for each of the numbers 1 to 9, they are grouped into 12, 34, 56, 78 and 90. From our point of view, the keypads in this style appeal to the eye as the number of keys, but more difficult in terms of practical use.
The keys are easy to press and we do not believe that the numbers on the keys will wear off easily. By using the lock and unlock button on the keypad, you can lock your door with a single press.
User Codes
There are 10 user codes and 1 programming code memory in total. User codes must be between 4 and 10 digits. Programming is done very easily. Since we do not have a programming manual in PDF, we cannot share it at the moment, but we will share it here when we find it.
TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad gives you the option of programming one time usage code. One time usages code offers very practical solutions at many points. When there is a person who needs to enter your home for one time, you can give that person a one time usage code instead of a permanent user code. Once used, one time codes are automatically deleted from the system and cannot be used again.
Backlit
Brightness of the backlit of some keypads are not good enough, but the backlit used in TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad allows the numbers to be read very clearly. Backlit is activated when you press any button or press the lock/unlock button.
Thanks to its bright backlit, you can enter your code smoothly in daytime under direct sunlight or in nighttime dark environments. We recommend that you activate the backlit by pressing the lock/unlock button first to avoid the possibility of making mistakes while entering the code.
Fingerprint Reader
You may not see the fingerprint reader at first glance, because the fingerprint reader is located under the round cover under the keypad. You can access the fingerprint reader by sliding the round cover.
TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad has 50 fingerprint memory in total. Performance of the fingerprint reader is above average. In our tests, it recognized 70% of our fingerprints in the first try and unlocked the door immediately. When your finger is wet, the fingerprint reader has trouble reading your finger and often does not recognize it.
Fingerprint registration process is also very easy, but fingerprint deletion is a bit problematic. To delete a fingerprint, you need the owner of the fingerprint you want to delete. So if you want to delete a fingerprint that you registered in the past, you cannot delete that fingerprint if that person is not near you. This both creates a security weakness and gives you difficulties. In this case, you have to delete all registered fingerprints to delete the fingerprint you want to delete. This obviously poses a huge problem, but we believe they will fix it in the future.
Auto Lock
Thanks to the auto lock function, you can fully automate the locking process of your door and remove it from your daily routine. It is a feature that we all love as a team and we use the auto lock feature in all the locks we use on our doors.
TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad has a time range that you can choose up to a maximum of 50 seconds. Although 50 seconds may seem like enough at first glance, people who need to get out of the door and come back to the house again might get locked outside and have to enter the user code to open their doors again.
Tacklife Keypad Electronic Deadbolt, the one that we reviewed before has was a very wide auto lock timer options from 10 seconds to 99 seconds. However, for some reason, this time is limited to 50 seconds in this new electronic lock. In our tests, we chose 10, 17, 25, 44 seconds, and after the door was unlocked, it always locked without any problems.
Security of TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad
When it comes to security, some users want to use electronic locks with very high security, others think that electronic locks with only basic security will be sufficient. This product has BHMA Grade 3, but does not provide special protection against the attack technique called lock bumping.
Grade 3 is the lowest grade of BHMA certificate but it doesn’t mean that it is not good enough to be used at home doors. Actually, Grade 3 shows us that TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad is secured enough to be used at houses but not in places which require higher security standards.
General structure of the lock is plastic. There are some metal parts too. Platting on the exterior unit, deadbolt, and interior turn knob are the metal parts of the lock. Overall, TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad gives you impression of a quality electronic lock.
Battery Life of TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad
TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad is powered by 4 x AA Alkaline batteries. They are not sending you these batteries when you buy this lock so since the battery quality is one of the most important factors which effect the battery life of the lock, we suggest you to use some high quality batteries as Duracell batteries or Energizer AA Batteries for a better battery life. Rechargable batteries can not be used. If you try, you will see low battery warning.
We usually do our own tests on battery life and reach out to people who use the locks that we review for a long time to ask for their opinion on battery life. As a result of the information we gathered, we say an average battery life, but unfortunately there are no long-term users due to the availability of TACKLIFE Fingerprint Electronic Lock with Keypad in the market and therefore we could not ask about the battery life.
For this reason, we will only make an evaluation according to our own tests. As a result of our tests on various doors, we calculated the average battery consumption and we think it will have a usage time of approximately 4 months. Of course, this period is an average time and will vary due to factors such as the condition of the door, weather conditions of the environment it is used, activated features, frequency of use and the battery quality. We cannot say that it has a high battery life in terms of average usage time. We will update this information after long-term usage.
When the battery is low, you will receive an audible warning and we recommend that you change your battery within 1-2 days after receiving this warning. Your battery won’t run out right away, but we don’t recommend you take any risk. Even if you forget to change the battery, there is an input at the bottom of the lock where you can temporarily give electricity by touching the 9 volt battery. In this way, you can unlock your door. It does not have a keyhole for using the keys.
To change the batteries, you need to remove the cover on the indoor unit and replace the batteries in the battery compartment. There are plastic parts on the sides of the battery compartment to keep the batteries in place. For this reason, we recommend that you first insert the outside and then the middle ones to avoid any problems. In this way, you will complete the battery replacement process more quickly. It will take an average of 1-2 minutes and there is nothing difficult.
