Kwikset Halo Touch

Kwikset has announced their Wi-Fi enabled fingerprint reader smart lock model at CES 2020. This model will be a great solution for the people who wants faster entrance by their fingerprints. If you are on this page, probably you are wondering the capabilities, cons and pros of this model. Halo is not officially on the sale for now but release date expected to be at the summer of 2020. We will make a detailed review as long as it is launched.

Design

Kwikset Halo Touch has a minimalistic design when compared to other smart locks on the market. Halo Touch doesn’t interfere the esthetic of the door. Fingerprint reader is located above the keyhole and due to kepad free design of Halo Touch, it is not covering a large area on the door.

After installation, appearance of the door will be similar to a door which has standart deadbolt on it. Only the difference is LED strip located above the fingerprint reader. When you put your finger on the reader, LED strip lights blue to confirm starting of the reading and then in rejects or accepts your fingerprint almost in a second. Blue light will turn to red for rejected readings and green for accepted ones. Any finger that is not registered can lock the Halo Touch by single pressing on the reader.

Fingerprint memory

Halo Touch has a large memory to store up to 100 fingerpints for 50 users. These fingerprints will be stored in the memory rather than cloud so you won’t have to worry about the lack of security or hacking possibilities to steal your fingerprints.

SmartKey Security™

Halo Touch Smart Lock has the latest patented SmartKey Security™. This will prevent lock picking, lock bumping and torque attack attempts on the door. Moreover, SmartKey also presents SmartKey Rekey option for the users. SmartKey Rekey gives you ability to rekey your KW1 Keyway keys on your own without help of a locksmith.

Halo has BHMA Certificate with AAA Grade, this means Halo has achieved the highest grade from the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA). BHMA is the only organization accredited by the America National Standards Institute. This certificate can be seen as proof of durability, quality and security of Halo Touch.

Kwikset Halo Touch Smart Capabilities

When people face with a smart lock they all expect to see some smart features along with keypad or fingerprint reader. Halo Touch has Wi-Fi module inside of it. You can directly connect Halo Touch your home network without any other hubs needed.

Kwikset App

After the connection established, you can access your Halo Touch from anywhere in the world and lock/unlock, manage users, check lock activity, receive notifications on lock activity and much more over the Kwikset app. We don’t have the actual list of the features but we believe Halo Touch will satisy the expectations.

Voice Assistants

Halo Touch has integration with Google Home Assistant and Amazon Alexa to give you ability of controlling the lock by your voice. It does not support Apple HomeKit.

Final words

We can not say too much things before we actually have the product and test it. Depending on our experiences with Kwikset, we believe this product will be a well performing and competitve one between all smart locks. Halo touch will be available with “traditional” and “contemporary” designs with 3 different finishes.
